Daniel Koppel, CFP®, MSFS

Advisor

Daniel,  a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, welcomes new clients with a wide range of needs, helping them to make clear, grounded decisions with their money.  As a result of his unique background, Daniel feels especially called to help those experiencing major transitions such as retirement, divorce, illness, or the death of a loved one.  These are times that carry both emotional weight and financial complexity when people need both technical guidance and a steady, trusted presence.

Daniel's approach to financial planning was shaped early in life. As a teenager, he experienced the death of his older brother and his parents' divorce. He had to step into serious responsibility at a young age, helping manage the family's finances. He learned first-hand about money and the weight of financial decision-making not as an abstract concept, but as something deeply personal. Managing money was how he helped protect the people he loved. That experience left him with a lasting conviction: when life feels uncertain, financial decisions must be accurate and delivered with compassion.

Clients value Daniel for the way he combines rigor with empathy. He is known for listening carefully, asking thoughtful, insightful questions, and translating complex financial decisions into clear, practical next steps. Daniel does not offer generic planning or sales-driven advice. He takes the time to understand the people behind the plan, their values, priorities, and relationships with money. Daniel believes the best results come from a strategy that aligns with real life.

Professionally, Daniel has been in the financial planning field since 2007 and has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional since 2010. He earned a master's degree in financial services in 2015. Earlier in his career, Daniel served as a lead planner at a large financial services firm, where he developed retirement and estate plans and strengthened his ability to guide complex cases with precision. He has also served as an instructor for Boston University's Financial Planning Program. He has written and edited course content for its online curriculum, an experience that reflects both mastery of the material and a gift for clear communication.

Daniel is recognized for high standards and close attention to detail. He brings an "auditor's eye" to a plan, spotting errors, inconsistencies, and hidden risks before they become expensive problems. At Milestone, he values working with a close-knit team and building long-term relationships with a select group of clients who prefer steady guidance over noise, hype, or shortcuts.

Daniel lives in Wenham, Massachusetts, with his wife Mary and their two children. Mary is a composer, singer, and professor at Gordon College.  Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time outdoors and is an active supporter of community-based performing arts organizations on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
