Tax Season Update
Last Friday marked an important milestone: every tax return submitted to us for preparation has been started, and outstanding questions have been sent to clients. Tax season is thankfully drawing to a close, and our team is beginning to schedule spring planning meetings. As in prior years, the only returns we expect to file on extension for are those where we are still waiting on documentation from clients.

Private Credit: When You Can’t Get Your Money Out
The private credit liquidity story got significantly worse this week. Two large alternative-asset funds capped investor withdrawal requests at just 5% of shares, despite receiving redemption requests of more than double that. The funds cited market volatility, limited transparency concerns, and heavy exposure to software companies facing AI disruption as factors driving the surge in exit requests. This is a reminder that higher yields in private, non-traded vehicles often come with a hidden cost: you may not be able to access your money when you need it.

Medical News: Ozempic’s Surprising Second Act
In medical news, a large new study published this month found that GLP-1 receptor agonists — the drug class that includes semaglutide (Ozempic and Wegovy)– may offer significant mental health benefits beyond weight loss. Researchers found meaningful reductions in rates of depression, anxiety, psychiatric hospitalizations, and even substance use disorders among patients taking these medications. Whether the effect stems from direct brain chemistry changes, lifestyle improvements associated with weight loss, or a combination of both is still being studied.
